“By His Stripes…”
Pastor Eric J. Hanson

1Peter 2:24: Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
JESUS:
Mar 16:17-20: And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.
Matthew 8:1-17: When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, show thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,
And saying, Lord, my servant lies at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour. And when Jesus was come into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother laid, and sick of a fever. And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them. When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:
That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.
Mat 4:23-24: And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.
And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.
APOSTLES:
Acts 5:14-16 And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.) Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them. There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.
NOT AN APOSTLE:
Act 8:5-8 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed. And there was great joy in that city.
A “CHARISM” for ordinary believers:
1Co 12:7-9 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit from. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healings by the same Spirit;
A Current, up to date testimony

Testimony from Mrs. Geetha Deva Kumar
I was born in a nominal Christian home and went to church only at Christmas or Easter. My dad is an atheist and my mom a Christian who thought the world of my dad. When I was 19, 1 had a dream that my mother passed away and I was absolutely terrified. Within a month my mother had a rare virulent type of blood cancer and died within 21 days. Soon after that my sister and I got married.
Since my husband was a believer I used to read the Bible with him. When we prayed together I was not sure whether Jesus was the only Way. Whenever I came to the part where it says, “Jesus rose again”, I would be reminded of what my dad told us, that “His disciples stole the body and made up a story that He rose from the dead”.
In 1995 when our daughter Anita was 8 years old I had a similar dream that she passed away. ” The body was laid in a coffin and people were going around it and kissing it. I too kissed her and her skin felt like leather’ I woke up terrified and went to her bedside to pray. She was burning with fever. When she vomited blood we rushed her to hospital. She started hemorrhaging internally. On the 20th day, the doctors gave up hope. She was in and out of consciousness and was seeing demons and even Satan. She would tell us they were in the room, but we thought she was delirious.
My husband and I decided to fast and pray all night. We put the IV tube through the Bible on the verse which says “We are healed by His wounds,” knelt on either side of the bed and started to pray. I told Jesus, If what is written in the Bible is true, that You are alive and You do miracles, then come and heal my daughter. At about 2 am my daughter began stirring and speaking in another language. After a few minutes she abruptly got up and said “Mummy I am healed” Then she said “I saw Jesus” She explained, ” I was taken up through a dark tunnel higher and higher which opened into a bright hole that led to a golden gate of pearls. The gate was open and I ran through it, I walked through streets of gold which were so beautiful and reached the shores of a sea. I was wondering how I would cross this sea and when I put my foot it was only glass like crystal. I crossed over to find a huge throne made of gold and Jesus was standing near it. I ran to Him, He carried me and I felt so happy there I did not want to come home. So. I hugged Jesus really tight but He kissed me and put me down and told me to go.”
That’s when she woke up. She explained how Jesus was the most beautiful person she had ever seen, His robe was bright light and His hair and eyes were brilliant.
The doctors were surprised to see the sick child playing. They did not believe what I told them and insisted on a blood test which was normal. Hallelujah! When we came home she saw a picture of Christ at the entrance and said “What a terrible painting that is, Jesus is so beautiful” She read the Bible voraciously for hours together and memorized Scripture. She explained deep truths simply and displayed such love I knew it was from God.
I started reading the Scriptures believing that Jesus was alive and that everything about Him was true. When I came to the Book of Revelation I found it was exactly how my daughter had described Heaven. The first dream came to pass but the second did not. For the second dream I called on the Name of Jesus and pleaded the Blood of Jesus for my daughter’s healing. He saved my daughter from the enemy. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10)
With this experience, I am constrained to share His love to everyone I come across – my students, colleagues and neighbors. All glory and honor to our only true God and His Son Jesus Christ, through His Holy Spirit. Amen.
Note that clear healing, which happens in Jesus’ name, or by Jesus sovereignly breaking in on a situation, produces faith and draws people to really follow Him.
My life is a testimony of God’s faithfulness and the integrity of His word. I live with my wife Judy and two children Caroline (13) and Dennis (3 ½) in Bangalore, India. To make a living, I work for as an HR Manager for a Government owned Power Company. I consider my secular job as a part-time assignment, because I believe that my full time assignment is to proclaim the goodness of God, His faithfulness and His love & compassion..
Just after 2 months of my daughter’s discharge from the hospital another disaster came near our tent- this time to devour our infant son Dennis. My daughter who was carrying 6 month old Dennis in her arms, tripped and fell flat on the floor with Dennis pressed under the weight of her body. The full impact of the fall came upon Dennis. When I picked up Dennis, his head and body just went limp and he stopped breathing. Things happened so suddenly that for a moment I didn’t realize the seriousness of the situation. But I quickly realized that life had gone out of Dennis and he was dead in my arms. Judy and the entire neighborhood (which had gathered by then) began to scream and panic. . But I could sense the power of the Holy Spirit coming upon me. Instead of rushing to the hospital, something prompted me to go out on the road, away from the commotion in the room, with my child in my arms. I began to pace up and down on the road confessing God’s Word into my child. I began to confess that God is the giver and sustainer of all life. The Spirit of God has made us and the breath of the Almighty gives us life. (Job 33:4). For the next ten minutes I continued to claim the breath of God into my son’s lifeless body and all my confessions were made in Jesus’ name. Bible says that Jesus Christ is our High Priest who sits at the right hand of the Father interceding day and night for us. That is the reason we can approach the throne of God with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. (Hebrew 4:16). And mercy indeed we received from the throne of grace. After about ten minutes, the body of my son began to shiver violently and he let out a big cry. I could feel the breath coming back into his body all over again. It was a marvelous feeling to experience the miracle working power of Lord Jesus Christ and His life-giving Word in action. We went to the doctor to get Dennis examined for any damages but she could not find anything wrong with him. I praise God for once again demonstrating His love towards us.
Note that this Father, who had already seen his own knee miraculously healed, and then his daughter healed from a serious blood disease, which had almost killed her, was ready to cooperate with the Holy Spirit when disaster struck.
The two main aspects of healing which generate the most interest are these: 1. I (or someone I care about) need to be healed. And 2. I am interested in or drawn toward being used by God to heal people in Jesus name.
God is vitally involved in both of these, and he is especially looking for people who are willing to step out in the second one. Every week we pastors pray for sick people. Many of you also pray for sick folks as prayer requests come in. Today, I’m asking about this matter of the gifts of healings. Do you sense the Lord’s heart about this moving you toward an interest in this? –(Call people up for prayer.)

I am a lifelong Mainer. I have been married to Nancy (Rogers) Hanson for 42 years. We have raised three children, now grown and married. We have 8 grandchildren here on Earth, and 2 in Heaven. -I came to saving faith in Jesus Christ at age 18, as a Senior in (Oxford Hills) High School. I attended Fort Wayne Bible College, later earned my B.A. in Bible Theology from International Seminary (Plymouth Florida) and did graduate work in Church Growth Studies at the New England branch of California Graduate School of Theology. I have been one of the staff pastors here at Hosanna Church since June of 1982. I served many years side by side with (now retired) Dallas Henry. We were co-pastors from '84- early 2016. We always considered that Jesus is the one and only "senior Pastor". I have been solo pastor (under the Lord) since then. I meet regularly with other area pastors for mutual accountability and prayer support. (Pastors' Prayer Fellowship).
